Mobile graphics to surpass current gaming consoles by 2014
Mobile gaming has gone a long way since the smartphone boom. With processors like NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 SoC and its 12-core GPU, devices are getting closer to achieving console quality gaming. We are definitely not quite there yet, but NVIDIA is estimating that mobile graphics and processing power will reach (and surpass) the performance of gaming consoles like the PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360. PlayStation Suite SDK open beta begins
As promised , Sony has launched the public beta of its PlayStation Suite SDK, following on from the closed beta that's been available to select developers in the US, UK and Japan since last November. The program, which is available online now at playstation.com/pss , allows game developers to create games and apps optimized for the recently-launched PlayStation Vita handheld console, as well as PlayStation-certified Android devices. (These include the Xperia Play , Xperia Arc , Xperia S , Sony Tablets P and S, and others.) The open beta available free of charge to all developers, but after the beta period's up Sony plans on charging a $99 annual fee for access to the finalized SDK. Continue reading
